Umm… How to start this
thing? Well I am a twenty-one years old aspie female. My name is Miriam which
means there rebellion in the Hebrew which fits my personality perfectly, for it
means the good kind of rebellion like going against the norms of society. I was
diagnosed with asperger’s syndrome when I was eleven years old by a doctor who
was new to asperger’s syndrome and thought that because I had five friends and
could make up pretend stories that I was high functioning. I am high
functioning as far as being very verbal, but I have extreme sensory issues to
sound, light, and taste among other things. I have anxiety in social situations,
but am very good at putting on act and pretending I’m quote un quote “normal”.
I have trouble making friends because I have trouble balancing multiple relationships
at the same time, but I am however trying to get better at doing this. I also say
things very bluntly and sometimes this is a turn off for people who don’t understand
me or asperger’s syndrome. I also have don’t know what is appropriate to talk
about and what is not in certain social situation. When you talk with me
nothing is off limits to talk about because I am open to talking about anything
and everything. Some people find my openness offensive and that is another
problem I have with making friends. I love animals, painting, drawing, knitting,
reading; and writing. I am currently a full time painter and a part time
student. I cannot work a regular nine to five job because of my social and sensory
issues. I also have Fibromyalgia which is a big whopper on top of asperger’s,
but more about that later.
I
hope with this blog to enlighten people on how people with asperger deal with
everyday life and how we may be different, but we essentially want the same
things as other people. We want acceptance,
love, and joy just like everyone else we just go about getting it in a different
way. I also hope to be an encouragement to other female aspies who might be
feeling like no one knows how they feel. I also hope to make people laugh and
understand asperger’s better through candid stories about my life. I hope you
will come along this journey with me because it should be a fun and wild ride!
I found this quote on my honest tea cap. What are the chances of someone with Asperger's getting this? Who knows!
